A 26-year-old clerk thwarted a robbery at Taco Lopez in west Wichita, but she put herself in peril after shots were fired, police said.
Two men entered the store at 795 N. West St., near Central, shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, but they couldn’t get the cash registers open. The female clerk began yelling at the two men and chased them outside, Sgt Scott Bruno said Sunday.
One of the men fired three shots, but no one was injured, Bruno said. Police are still looking for the two who are described as being either white or Hispanic, both about 5-foot-7, 160 pounds and wearing blue jeans, dark hooded jackets, ski masks and gloves. No ages were given. They had a dark charcoal-colored semi-automatic handgun, police said.
