A concert in Smith Center scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday has been canceled because of snow.

The concert was to feature the Prairie Rose Rangers. It will be rescheduled, organizers say.

The purpose of the concert was to raise money to help in restoring and renovating the Home on the Range cabin where Brewster Higley wrote the words to what later became the Kansas state song, “Home on the Range.” The cabin, in Smith County, is now nearing 140 years old and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
