WICHITA — A Creighton University monthly survey of supply managers said January was a steady month for Kansas firms.
The state’s Business Conditions Index for January was unchanged from December 2011’s index of 50.1.
An index of 50 or more indicates an expansionary economy over the next three to six months.
“Both durable and nondurable goods manufacturers reported solid business conditions for the month and for most of 2011,” said Creighton professor Ernie Goss, the survey’s author, in a news release today. “Recent action by the Fed, which will weaken the dollar, will be favorable for the Kansas economy.”
The BCI for the nine-state Mid-America region that includes Kansas was 55.9, the survey’s biggest jump since October 2009.
