Boeing CEO Jim McNerney is probably right that the tanker contract didn’t stipulate where it would be built or finished. The real issue is his promise to the Kansas delegation. We should all be thankful we live in Kansas, where promises are kept and phone calls are returned.
If the Wichita City Council delayed the silly “flyover” from I-235 to 13th Street, it could use the money to build the new library. A library would serve all of Wichita. Plus, the interchange will not help people north of 21st Street, one of the fastest-growing regions of the city.
Is it a good idea for the city to help build the Ambassador Hotel when the hotel will compete against the city-owned Hyatt? It’s time for the City Council to take charge and stop being so heavily influenced by developers who only want to become richer.
The hotel guest tax proceeds must not be needed if our City Council can give this money away to developers. Rescind this tax, and profit from having lower hotel room bills than competing cities.
Let’s see who can be the first to light their tap water on fire when fracking gets in full gear around the Wichita area.
I find it hard to believe that some people actually think it’s right to raise taxes on the poor so that the rich get their taxes reduced.
The Brownback administration’s pretense of transparency is a sham, from defunding the arts to balancing the budget on the backs of the poor and dependent. What new business wants to reside in a state that doesn’t support the arts or protect the vulnerable and that steals from its poor?
Hey, SRS, I have a great idea: If a parent misbehaves, you should beat the child.
I don’t think the governor wants to hurt poor people. I just think he wants them to get out of his state.
Get out of Kansas, teachers. That is what the state is saying in proposing poor evaluation methodology and threatening to publicly post such evaluations. Are you crazy? No one posts personnel information unless he wants to be sued.
Why don’t they start the State of the Union address with the Pledge of Allegiance?
When Harry Truman said “the buck stops here,” he was taking responsibility. When Barack Obama says “the buck stops here,” he is taking campaign contributions.
The perfect Republican would be someone seemingly without a past, someone who has never made a firm decision about anything, someone who seemingly came out of nowhere who is capable of moving in whatever direction the political wind seems to be blowing. You know, someone like Barack Obama.
Obama’s record alone should defeat him in this next election. It shouldn’t make any difference which Republican runs against him.
I love you, red Solo cup.
