Wichita State junior Aliphine Tuliamuk set the 3,000-meter run Missouri Valley Conference and school record with a time of 9 minutes, 11.49 seconds in Terrier Invitational in Boston.

It is the second-fastest college time this indoor season. Tuliamuk broke the MVC record of 9:17.50 set by Illinois State’s Wendy VanMierlo in 1984. She also broke Desiraye Osburn’s WSU record of 9:17.40, set in 2006.

Tuliamuk finished second in the race behind former Hutchinson native Lauren Bonds (9:08.51), a professional who ran unattached. In the Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence, WSU’s Audacia Moore finished third with a time of 24.65 in the 200 meters.
