We’ve been told before that protections are in place if companies renege after tax giveaways (“Learjet deal has safeguards,” Jan. 24 Letters to the Editor). The Coleman Co. was one such case. Our illustrious City Council simply said, “Well, never mind.”

I can relate to Old Town, because I, too, am old and have been refurbished on the surface to look younger than I am, and I am also forced to stay up into the wee hours of the morning.

Newt Gingrich’s vision of traditional marriage is illustrated in the world created by the television show “Mad Men.” It works very nicely for a few powerful men.

It appears the presidential election is shaping up to be the bemused voters versus the apathetic voters.

When people who don’t pay one penny of income tax are angry at those who do pay taxes because they are not given more freebies, it’s called “class warfare.”

Brilliant move by President Obama using the U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6 to rescue hostages in Somalia. In eight years, former President George W. Bush never came close to anything like Obama has done in three years.

Obama’s State of the Union speech probably seemed wonderful to the uninformed, but Gov. Mitch Daniels gave a great response to it.

When you criticize Obama’s policies, you are accused of racism. Remember – you are criticizing his white half as well as his black half. If you criticize me as a white person, why is that not also racism? Let’s stop this nonsense.

Republicans should realize that when Democrats say “unite” they mean we need compromise. Instead, they complain that we aren’t united because they aren’t getting their way.

Thank you to Phil Ruffin for not giving up on Wichita or Wichita Greyhound Park. Where can I sign the petition?

Who needs the Indianapolis 500? Just sit on the roof of a building in Wichita and watch the traffic go by.
