A Wichita square-dance club that’s always offered lessons in the fall kept hearing from people that they would come if lessons were offered in the spring. So the West Side Steppers is offering a session from Feb. 21 to April 12 at Clare Hall at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 866 N. Socora.
“Square dancing is going down and down,” Chuck Hart, vice president of the club, said. “We’re trying to build up membership.”
Square dancing has both physical and mental-health benefits, he said, with an average evening of dancing being equivalent to walking three to four miles.
The session will cost $15 – basically $1 a lesson. Lessons will be from 7 to 9 p.m., and attire is casual. Both individuals and couples are welcome. The first evening will include a social with food and drink. For more information, go to the website kssquaredancing.com or call Terry at 316-734-8540.
