Is there a member of Congress who’s not in the 1 percent? Is running for Congress so expensive that only the 1 percent can win? Probably, so forget about being able to elect someone who knows what it’s like to live a middle-class life.
It scares me to think that the person who criticized Rep. Gabby Giffords for staying on the job (Jan. 24 Opinion Line) is allowed to vote. Giffords nearly lost her life in service to her country. Her determination to recover and return to her job is beyond awe-inspiring. She stepped down to give full attention to her rehab so she can return more quickly to public service. I’d say she’s shown a lot more courage than it takes to hide behind the anonymity of Opinion Line, firing off cheap shots.
John Edwards was engaged in an extramarital affair during his 2008 presidential campaign. The press sat on the story. Newt Gingrich has been married 11 years, but his past indiscretion was the first topic in a presidential debate. You say there’s no bias?
The reason young people support Ron Paul is not because of his support for legalizing drugs. It is because he wants to fix this nation so that when we run this nation, it is not a complete ruin.
It would be nice to see Republicans get back to the tea party as it was when Ron Paul started it. Either that or quit calling their movement the “tea party movement” when it’s no different from what they’ve done in the past.
There are two words not included in a politician’s vocabulary, “yes” and “no.”
Regarding “Immigrants’ kids cut from food stamp rolls” (Jan. 23 Eagle): What part of “illegal” is so difficult for a supposedly informed tabloid to comprehend? If you don’t like the law, change or remove it. Don’t simply ignore it for political correctness. Unenforced laws encourage chaos.
How can anyone claim to be a Christian and hate legal and illegal immigrants? Aren’t we all God’s children? Maybe you so-called Christians need to think about this.
Recall petitions should be issued for the current governor before he completely puts Kansas back in the 1950s.
Arthur Laffer promotes supply-side economics. Most economists know that this is a failure, as has been stated by Reagan’s chief adviser, David Stockman. That Laffer was paid $75,000 to come to Kansas and treated like a rock star is a sad commentary on our state.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed into law a requirement that those on welfare must pass a drug test. It is incredible that Kansas does not have such a mandate, because taxpayers should know that our money goes only to those who are clean.
It only makes good fiscal sense to tax the poor people more. There are more of them and they don’t vote anyway.
Rupert Murdoch and his wife attended one of the Hollywood award ceremonies. Are they now considered part of the Hollywood elite?
Yep – Tiffani Thiessen still has it.
