Standard & Poor’s has downgraded the bonds of Greece to junk bond status, because Greek politicians are resisting cuts in government spending. If this sounds similar to Washington, it should. Big-spending politicians here do not have a clue.
During the past 60 days, how many days did the president spend in his office in Washington, D.C.?
With the cancellation of the oil pipeline from Canada to Texas, President Obama not only killed a massive construction project that requires no federal dollars but guaranteed this vast oil reserve goes to China, which is becoming a very powerful adversary.
The GOP delegation strapped an unrealistic deadline on President Obama to reach a decision on the Keystone XL pipeline. He had no choice but to rule negatively, and now the GOP members are up in arms. Classic case of being able to dish it out but not take it.
The ranchers of western Nebraska and the Republican governor have been fighting to keep the Keystone XL pipeline out of the Sandhills. Don’t “conservatives” believe in states’ rights anymore?
How dare Nebraska hold up the pipeline. A state that cares about the health, welfare and future drinking water of its citizens over the love of the almighty dollar is blasphemy.
There is enough hot air coming out of the White House to dry hands in every public restroom in the country. How’s that for a “green energy” idea?

If Gov. Sam Brownback’s income-tax proposal passes, look for a mass exit of senior citizens from Kansas and then see how many jobs are lost after the sales- and property-tax increases. Block this bill.
I refinanced my home from 5.5 to 4.25 percent, saving $162 a month. Now, thanks to Brownback, my gain would disappear via property-tax increases. Trickle down?
I am pretty sure my Labrador would be a better governor than Brownback.
It’s nice to know that the only people who get to hang out with their kids on holidays are government employees. I have to find and pay a sitter.
Counsel from your grandparents: Only buy whole life insurance, not term life. It costs more, but your cost will not change as you age and you can keep it. Term will get so expensive as you age that you will have to give it up or lower the policy value anyway to be able to afford any life insurance. Listen to us and protect your family better.
George Orwell may have been right for how society will turn out in his book “1984.” He was only 30 years off.
Have you ever noticed how many times Merril Teller says “right now,” “out there” and “in the state of Kansas” during one weather forecast?
