The Wichita State womens team battled through a poor shooting night on the road and beat Evansville 57-51 on Thursday night in Evansville, Ind.
The Shockers (12-5, 6-0 MVC) remained unbeate in conference play against the last-place Aces, but the win didnt come easily. The Shockers shot 34.5 percent for the game and were outrebounded 39-38. But WSU took the lead for good midway through the first half and opened a seven-point edge by halftime. The margin never exceeded 10 points in the second half, but the Shockers never allowed the Aces to regain the lead.
WSU junior Jessica Diamond scored a game-high 16 points and had four steals and two blocked shots. Chynna Turner added 12 points, and Krystle Henderson hit a pair of three-pointers and scored eight points.
