Former Boeing employees: There is an advantage with Boeing’s exit. When you submit an application for employment, your resume can no longer be discounted because you might return to Boeing when work picks up. That presumptive hiring policy had been observed for decades.

The Wichita district has not produced any facts that indicate a true need to close existing schools while building new schools. Empty buildings with valued, undeveloped property will lie idle and students will travel to new sites. For what purpose?

Intrust Bank Arena cost more than $200 million to build. The Kansas Coliseum sold for $1.5 million. Does anyone else see something wrong with this? I think I’ll put in my bid now for the arena. How does $100,000 sound?

It appears that under Gov. Sam Brownback’s new Kansas income-tax plan, the self-employed will no longer pay Kansas income tax while employees of the self-employed will. Is this fair?

Realtors aren’t the only ones protesting the governor’s tax plan. Many homeowners planned and budgeted for retirement counting on this deduction. And I will not pay for local schools by allowing each school district to tax me out of my home.

The devil is in the details in Brownback’s tax plan. Taxes will go up for those living on $25,000 or less and down by an average 18 percent for those making more than $250,000. What Christian principle does this stand on?

Our actions reveal who we are and what we are. The Kansas House speaker’s insincere apology was followed by sarcastically saying the public shouldn’t make a big deal out of it. This is what serial offenders do: take no responsibility and blame the wronged.

Speaker Mike O’Neal quoted Psalm 109:8 in his attempt to be humorous about not re-electing Obama in 2012. He did not quote Psalm 109:9 in any way. Critics are lying by adding the next verse and making false insinuations.

Well, Republicans, we did it again. We let the media pick our candidate in 2008, and we let them do it again this year. When will we learn? They don’t want us to win.

Barack Obama would not know streamlined government if it bit him in the face.

I recently changed radio stations because of shouting commercials. When I watch TV, they are muted. So the shouting does no good at my house.
