Our friends and neighbors lost $3.25 million in the Kansas Star Casino’s first eight days of operation. In this economy, who knew people could throw away $3.25 million in just eight days? With that much disposable income, there shouldn’t be a single hungry child on Earth.
My own informal parking lot survey of the casino shows a large majority of car tags from Sedgwick County. It seems to me that the folks in Wellington need to quit whining and just enjoy the benefits they will reap from the Sedgwick County folks spending their money at the casino. I suppose they would rather have it sitting empty at the Wellington exit.
Wichitans are afraid people will spend their money at the casino instead of at businesses in Wichita? Maybe they should have thought of that and built the casino in Wichita.
No group of Homo sapiens is more fickle than the gamblers. If the Kansas Star Casino doesn’t level the playing field, slightly improving the odds for the players, watch how quickly the migration to Oklahoma casinos resumes.
When will one of the GOP candidates promise to do something for the American people that we really need, such as keeping gas prices down and making high-speed Internet available in rural areas?
