Boeing wages raised the wages for all aircraft workers in town and deserve credit for that. But they also raised property prices, taxes, and the cost of food and clothing, so they deserve the credit for that, too. People leave Kansas because the cost of living is less elsewhere. So goodbye and good riddance to Boeing from the other 99 percent of Wichitans.

As a sales rep, I make about three times more than the average factory worker and work about a third as hard. I don’t feel guilty, but I’m sure not going to criticize those workers for trying to make a living wage to support their families.

During the clapping at Gov. Sam Brownback’s State of the State address, I got to wondering: What were the 10 most-applauded statements or commitments he made in the 2011 address, and what became of them?

Wake up, folks – you had better sell off your Kansas property before our governor raises property taxes on all property owners. Reinvest in out-of-state properties where property taxes are acceptable. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

WE Blog asked whether God placed Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and President Obama in office, or just Brownback. Does anyone think God would put pro-abortion candidates into office? Really?

I can’t believe some advertising agency is being paid to totally butcher our state song in the new casino ads. That’s a good reason to boycott the casino.

Hunters: Please quit using lead bullets. A single pellet (smaller than a green pea) from a shotgun shell can kill an eagle that feeds off the animal you shoot.

Surpluses have caused a sudden drop in various grain prices. I wonder why we are now paying more for grocery items than ever before.

Is President Obama any less wrong for blocking the Keystone pipeline than Iran would be if it blocked the Strait of Hormuz?

The social conservatives have blurred the message of the Republican Party by confusing profits with prophets. The guns in their waistbands haven’t helped much either.

Superrich libertarians want the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations abolished so they will be free to pollute the water we drink, the air we breathe and the land where our crops are grown for food, thereby increasing their profits.

If no one ever teaches you to be anything but a taker, all of your life you will expect someone else to support you, with no effort on your part. Our government was founded on the self-reliance of its people. Let’s get back to that.
