KU women win double overtime; K-State wins

Junior Carolyn Davis scored 21 points, all after halftime, as the Kansas women beat Iowa State 74-67 in double overtime at Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

Davis recorded 18 of her team-high 21 in the final 2:44 of regulation and two overtime periods as the Jayhawks (13-2, 2-1 Big 12) overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half, while the Cyclones (9-5, 0-3 Big 12) faltered down the stretch.

Kansas outscored Iowa State 11-4 in the second overtime, led by Davis’ seven points. Her 21 points moved her into 17th place all-time in KU history with 1,169 career points.

Five Jayhawks finished in double-figures led by Davis. Junior guard Angel Goodrich had another great outing, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and seven steals, which tied a career-high. Her eight assists moved her into second place for single-season assists with 178 on the year so far.

Kansas State 72, Missouri 46 — A career-night by Mariah White sparked Kansas State to its first 3-0 league start since the 2007-08 season.

White led the Wildcats with 23 points surpassing her previous career best of 17 against St. John’s last season. White shot 5 of 7 from beyond the arc. She had made four three-pointers her entire career entering Wednesday’s game. She also had eight assists.

K-State (12-3, 3-0 Big 12) also got a career-high 10 points from JuliAnne Chisholm. Brittany Chambers also reached double digits with 14 points on the night hitting four three-pointers.

Missouri (10-4, 0-3) struggled on offense shooting just 36.2 percent (17-of-47) as a team.
