How many times will our elected leaders be burned by major employers saying one thing and doing another? The answer, my friend, is Boeing in the wind.
Security? Security at Boeing? Security in aircraft industry? Where is it written that you should have security? Want security? Start your own business.
Every action creates a reaction. Unfortunately, after years of the unions demanding more and holding Boeing hostage through strikes, they got their reaction.
I wonder how much of Boeing’s decision to leave Wichita is motivated by a desire to escape potential liability for environmental cleanup costs? Normally our elected representatives would make sure that Boeing paid these costs, which would discourage it from leaving. However, our Republican representatives don’t believe in the EPA. It’s the perfect time for Boeing to escape.
Bring jobs back from overseas. Tax companies that export jobs. Give incentives for those that keep them here. Why is that simple concept not mentioned anymore?
The Boeing jobs soon will be gone, resulting in more unemployment and lost revenue to the Wichita community. However, the Boeing-owned facility with nearly 100 structures will remain on the tax rolls until they are sold to someone else. Seems to me that an immediate and hefty property-tax increase on the Boeing property is in order, with the proceeds going to help find new jobs for those soon-to-be-ex-Boeing employees.
Boeing? Big deal. Get over it. We can hope that when it leaves, it will be replaced with smaller, independent businesses without bogus unions and the government to stifle its growth. Wichita will survive.
I’m a little tired of people blaming our $15 trillion debt on President Obama. Everyone who is thinking knows that it was the president before him who was responsible for a lot of that debt. Obama just inherited that legacy.
A more appropriate name for the Republican fiascoes being called “debates” would be “mudslinging.” I am not interested in hearing them accuse each other of past, present or possible future actions. I already know what they have or have not done. I want to know what each candidate would hope to accomplish if elected.
So Michelle Obama doesn’t like living in the White House. I guess she has no problem living in Air Force One, charging all the expenses to the American people.
A Kansas high school girl can use a four-letter word in describing our governor, but a state official can’t criticize Michelle Obama.
The public has the right to expect a higher level of dignity, discretion and common sense from an elected official who is Kansas House speaker than from an 18-year-old high school student.
Comparing a teenager’s remarks disrespecting Gov. Sam Brownback with House Speaker Mike O’Neal’s disrespectful remarks about Michelle Obama is like comparing apples and oranges. Adults are expected to know better.
Why is it that people could get a live Christmas tree home from a lot or store, but now can’t transport it to a recycling drop-off location?
What Wichita needs is a first-class restaurant with a German menu.
