Read Thomas Frank’s book “What’s the Matter With Kansas?” When will Kansans and other Midwestern folks wake up and realize that we are voting in representatives who do not vote the interests of the people of Kansas? Something is indeed the matter with our fair state and region – our elected officials, who seemingly have sold out the family farm.
It would be great if Boeing’s departure lowered our property taxes by 10 percent. But living in Kansas has taught me that local government will find a way to twist this and raise the taxes by 10 percent.
It is no wonder Boeing’s cost of doing business in Wichita is so high. No company needs 97 properties to provide workplaces for 2,100 employees. Sell off 80 or more properties, and the costs would drop drastically.
Maybe with Boeing gone, we will be able to go 45 mph on South Oliver.
Mark these words: McConnell Air Force Base will be closed within five years of the first new tanker delivery. If you care about those jobs, kill the tanker contract. We don’t need new ones. The ones we have get us in too much trouble as it is.
The employed shouldn’t bad-mouth the unemployed. What goes around comes around.
If I am forced to buy electricity, gas and water from a specific utility company, that company should operate like a credit union. Credit unions are member-owned and not for profit, and they do not allow unions.
Many of us get road rage because we are trying really hard to obey the rules of the road, and most drivers do not seem to be trying at all.
