K-State women beat Kansas 63-57

Brittany Chambers hit five three-point shots and scored 23 points, helping Kansas State's women beat Kansas 63-57 on Saturday night in Lawrence.

Both teams were coming off wins over ranked opponents on Wednesday, the opening night of Big 12 play.

After a back-and-forth first half, Kansas led 32-28 at halftime.

K-State scored the first eight points of the second half and held the lead until Aishah Sutherland had consecutives baskets to tie the score 47-47 with 5:04 to play.

A three-pointer by Chambers put the Wildcats back on top, then a jumper by Brittany Brown made it 52-47 with 3:33 remaining.

Jalana Childs had 15 points — 11 in the second half, and Brown scored 12 for K-State.

Carolyn Davis scored 19 for KU and Monica Engelman added 13.

Kansas State has won 20 of the last 22 meetings between the schools.
