How long is Wichita going to keep calling itself the Air Capital of the World? Ridiculous.
The Boeing Co. is just that, a company. It is in business for profit. Closing the Wichita facility is not an emotional decision but a monetary one. Now, let’s see if our governor, mayor and others can refocus on attracting another manufacturer or two to our city to put our workforce back to work.
Boeing said it wouldn’t have been right to ask the state for help to continue in Wichita, but it apparently was OK to ask our Kansas congressional delegation for help to win the tanker contract and promise to do the work here. No wonder Airbus is outselling Boeing.
Exactly what costs did Boeing use when it made the tanker bid? It sounds like Boeing is pulling a bait and switch on the government, by offering a plane built with skilled labor and now planning to build it with cheap, unskilled labor.
I hope local officials, Kansans in Congress and business groups have a coordinated contingency plan in place to lessen the loss of Boeing. Since 2004, that issue should have been on everyone’s front burner. Why do I think everyone continued to believe in the tooth fairy?
I don’t understand the surprise over the Boeing decision. After all, corporations are people, and people lie and deceive.
What do Wichita and Detroit have in common? Unions. Enough said.
See what happens when the unions keep demanding more and more? For the workers still employed at other companies: This is your wake-up call. Be happy with what you have.
Gov. Sam Brownback and his GOP pals in Topeka have done their best to drag our culture back into the 19th century. Is it any surprise that our economy is headed there, too?
So our brilliant speaker of the Kansas House forwards an offensive e-mail about Michelle Obama and then says, “oops,” he didn’t see the text. He’s either stupid or a big liar.
So when a high schooler criticizes and makes fun of a Republican governor, that is considered freedom of expression, and we should treat that student with respect? But when a Republican forwards an e-mail that makes fun of a spouse of a Democratic president, that Republican is being disrespectful?
Thanks to the three Sedgwick County commissioners who voted against the Southfork tax-increment financing district. If a development will not stand on its own, it should not be built.
I have heard stories of aliens snatching people wearing John Deere hats out of trailer parks and doing unspeakable things to them. I deal with the public nearly every day and read Opinion Line. I have purchased a John Deere hat, I am looking at a trailer, and I am ready to take my chances elsewhere. Please.
