Of three men who entered a QuikTrip together at Douglas and Rock on Monday night, two thought they were stopping briefly to pick up a snack or drink, according to Wichita police — but the third guy had other ideas.

He walked behind the counter, punched the clerk and knocked him down, demanding cigarettes, Lt. Doug Nolte said. The clerk refused.

Video surveillance at the QT at 110 S. Rock Road shows the other two men, stunned at what their buddy just did, grabbing him and dragging him out of the store about 11:40 p.m. Monday.

“It doesn’t look like it was something his buddies expected to happen,” Nolte said of the would-be robber.

Police on Thursday released images of the three men, hoping residents can help identify and locate them.

Anyone with information about the incident or the men involved should call the robbery section at 316-268-4350, Nolte said.
