The key to economic prosperity is supporting businesses, big and small, not asking our government to snuff them out through higher taxes and crippling regulation. Businesses create jobs, not the government. All government jobs are dependent on private-sector jobs, as all their money comes from private-sector taxpayers and businesses.

What’s the big deal about global warming? Shut down the hot air coming from Washington, D.C. Problem solved.

Say what you like about atheists. At least they don’t make war with one another based on the fact that one atheist doesn’t believe in God differently than another atheist doesn’t believe in God.

Isn’t it about time for Gov. Sam Brownback to require some fiscal responsibility from the state universities? If what I read is true, KU is now paying three head football coaches seven-figure salaries each, although two of the three have been fired. I thought universities were run by extremely smart folks.

If you are against proving who you are with a picture ID to vote, you must either be hiding, not a citizen, ashamed of who you are or against America. So wake up and do what’s right. Be proud to be a citizen of the USA.

So many people attempt to get a parking spot closest to the door of the store in a large parking lot, which can create problems for other people who are behind you. I actually choose the parking spot far away from the door – easy to get in, easy to get out. A little walk never hurt anyone.

For those who believe “Saturday Night Live” wouldn’t go after Muslims the way it has “attacked” Tim Tebow and Christians: If you go way back to 1980 (the time of the Iranian hostage crisis), you would find several skits inspired by “The Beverly Hillbillies” about the “Bel Arabs.”

Christians believe that the Jews are God’s chosen people. I don’t understand why Christians don’t convert to Judaism so they can be among the chosen. Seriously.

I have a wonderful schnauzer that was on death row at the Kansas Humane Society because he was deemed aggressive. My 4-year old granddaughter wraps her arms around him as they sit together and watch TV. Such aggression. The “humane” society is hardly humane.

It sure doesn’t take much to get kicked out of a bar these days. I guess they just don’t want anyone’s business.

“The Treasure of the Sierra Madre” is truly a wonderful movie, but I liked Humphrey Bogart even more in “Casablanca.” There are more classic movie lines in that film than any other including. “Here’s looking at you kid” and “Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

The Dallas Cowboys will never be a championship team as long as Jerry “I Am Smarter Than the Coach” Jones is the owner.

In an online poll about New Year’s resolutions, losing weight was 46 percent, getting out of debt was 35 percent, and spending more time with family was 19 percent. The family loses again this year.
