Chick-fil-walls! Chick-fil-roof! Chick-fil-doors! The last time I drove past the Chick-fil-A construction site at Central and Rock, it was just before Christmas, and all I saw was that same old hole in the ground we’ve been talking about for months.

Today when I drove past, it was a much different story. Wichita’s first (and much-anticipated) free-standing Chick-fil-A, which is scheduled to open on Feb. 23, now has walls. And a roof. And a shape!

One interesting fact: It appears that the entrance will face Central. For whatever reason, I assumed it would face Rock.

One not-very-surprising fact: The traffic acrobatics I had to perform just to get this photo gave me a taste of the patience it will require to reach our favorite restaurant on one of our city’s busiest intersections.

Oh well. It will be worth it.
