Thunder rallies by Evansville, maintains first place

Thomas Beauregard's goal with 2:31 to play was the go-ahead tally in a three-goal third period that lifted the Wichita Thunder past the Evansville IceMen 7-5 on Saturday night in Evansville, Ind.

The Thunder (20-8-1, 41 points) maintained its one-point lead over Allen in the Central Hockey league's Berry Conference.

Beauregard's goal, his second of the game, came about 4 1/2 minutes after Matt Summers' goal tied the game at 5. Aaron Davis added an empty-net goal with 15 seconds to play.

Wichita trailed 3-1 near the end of the first period before Beauregard's first goal. Summers and Kevin Seibel assisted.

Summers had three goals, while R.G. Flath had a goal and and two assists for the Thunder, which is off until a game Friday at Quad City.
