Funny how the price of my plane tickets didn’t go down $50 when separate baggage fees began. Airlines can’t blame the fees on rising fuel costs either, since multiple fuel surcharges were also levied.
It is narrow-minded to suggest that anyone fears being required to show photo ID in order to vote. I have many kinds of photo ID cards. I don’t fear having them. I just don’t see a need to have a photo ID in order to vote, as I have done for almost 50 years.
As Kim Jong Il was laid to rest, thousands of North Korean mourners were wailing and thrashing uncontrollably. They must have been promised their first meal in weeks for their performance.

Pork is considered one of the “good luck” foods, and consumed by people around the world who are looking for a prosperous new year. I wish Congress had never heard of this.
It wouldn’t surprise me if newborns were required by law in the near future to have a chip put in the back of the neck so they can be tracked and found anywhere. Total freedom would be lost because of the fear of a baby or child being stolen, lost or killed.
I’m developing a problem with folks who can pay for 17 piercings and 42 tattoos and then want me to feed their kids.
Everyone needs to read Billy Graham’s newest book, “Nearing Home: Life, Faith, and Finishing Well.” It has something for every age person at every stage of life.
Regarding “Christmas list” (Dec. 25 Letters to the Editor): What a beautiful letter. What is more beautiful is that all of us can have the things on the list by seeking forgiveness from God and letting Him rule in our lives. All of the things on the list can be ours through prayer.
