I hope that the Boeing union members put their $5,000 signing bonuses in savings, so when they lose their jobs they won’t complain how poor they are.
I and others at Boeing predicted this development regarding the tanker jobs long ago. I would ask Rep. Mike Pompeo to watch for something else: Boeing will not put the work it is taking from Wichita into the Washington state area. That work will be done outside the U.S., likely a country that will buy commercial airplanes from Boeing.
What happen to “Build the big, expensive aviation training center and they will come”? Ever since we dumped millions of dollars on it, all the industry has done is try to leave town.
I will not be entering the Kansas Star Casino as long as it allows smoking. I cannot understand why our Legislature exempted casinos from the smoking ban.
I live in Wichita. It’s great that the Kansas Star Casino is doing well. Wichita voted down a casino in Sedgwick County. All the money should go to the towns in Sumner County, which wanted it. The charities and people in Wichita with their hands out are hypocrites.
Wellington voted for a Wellington casino, then tried everything it could to stop the Kansas Star Casino from being built.
Wichita needs the Ambassador Hotel. It will cost the taxpayers nothing, and everyone in this city will benefit from its development. I see nothing wrong with incentives to develop, build and invest in the future success of our city.
I just love those who give Obama credit for pulling troops out of Iraq by the end of the year, when it was actually a timeline set up by President Bush and the Iraqis in 2008. Facts – don’t you just hate them when they get in your way?
The ineptitude of the Obama administration is verified by the number of jobless, the takeover of health care, the delay of the Keystone XL pipeline, and the excessive spending that has left us with a $15 trillion debt. Obama has spent $6.8 million per minute in 2011.
You’ll never get hardened cellphone users to cooperate with a law banning use while driving. The solution is fairly simple, since many newer cellphones have GPS capability. Program the phones to block text and voice transmissions when moving more than 5 mph.
