Thunder defenseman Andrew Martens has been named a starter for the Central Hockey League team that will take on the host Arizona Sundogs on Jan. 11 in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Shortly after being named a starter, Martens was called up to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League and is scheduled to play for that team tonight. Thunder general manager Joel Lomurno expects Martens to be able to play in the CHL game.

Martens received 35 votes, more than any player. He has eight goals and 14 assists and is tied for the league in points by a defenseman. He's in his second Wichita season and seventh pro season.

Other starters are Allen forward Bruce Graham, Rapid City forward Jess Schultz, Quad City forward Brandon Marino, Tulsa defenseman Jeff Terminesi, and Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher.
