Quad City's Mickey Lang scored in the sixth round of the shootout, giving the Mallards a 4-3 win over the Thunder on Friday night in Moline, Ill.
The Thunder rallied to tie the score three times but never led. After allowing a shorthanded goal in the opening minute of the second period to fall behind 2-0, Wichita got even in less than three minutes with a power-play goal by Matt Robinson and an unassisted goal by Andrew Martens.
Quad City regain the lead four minutes later, but Wichita made it 3-3 on a power-play goal by Alex Bourret at 16:58 of the second.
The Mallards regained the lead with just under six minutes to play in the third, but Martens' second goal made it 4-4.
