Architecture lets Wray use both sides of her brain.

"There’s a very technical aspect, and there’s also a lot of creativity," she said.

Wray, 30, grew up in Wichita, graduated from Maize High and earned her architecture degree from Kansas State University. After college, she took a job with the Chicago office of the HDR architecture firm, where she spent four years working on designs for large health-care facilities.

"It was really nice to work in a technical-driven industry," she said. "You learn to design within those frameworks."

Wray, who’s fluent in Spanish, then spent nearly two years working on construction projects for schools and community centers in rural Peru and volunteering on organic farms in Spain.

A desire to be close to her family brought her back to Wichita. At GLMV, her primary work is for Sodexo, a company that contracts with universities to provide food service.

"They have different dining concepts," she sad. "We do things like remodel student centers and residential dining halls."

Outside work, Wray enjoys running and promoting the slow-food and organic food movements.

"I guess it’s just reconnecting to where the food comes from, the sources," she said.
