MANHATTAN — Kansas State was well represented on the Big 12's all-conference football team, announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Bill Snyder was named the leagues' Coach of the Year, junior linebacker Arthur Brown earned defensive newcomer of the year honors and receiver Tyler Lockett was named offensive freshman of the year.

The Wildcats won more individual awards than any team in the conference, and had 11 players earn All-Big 12 mention.

Brown led K-State with 95 tackles during the regular season. He also made 7.5 tackles for loss to go along with two pass breakups and an interception.

Lockett missed the final three games of the season with an injury, but his body of work was stronger than any other freshman. He made 18 catches for 246 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.

Snyder has now won Big 12 coach of the year honors three times. He last won the award in 2002. This season, he led K-State to 10 wins for the first time since 2003.

Defensive tackle Ray Kibble, right tackle Clyde Aufner, cornerback Nigel Malone and Brown were first team All-Big 12 choices.

Safety Tysyn Hartman, left tackle Zach Hanson and Lockett made the second team. Earning honorable mention were quarterback Collin Klein, kicker Anthony Cantele and defensive backs David Garrett and Ty Zimmerman.

Baylor's dual-threat quarterback Robert Griffin III was selected offensive player of the year.

Griffin got 14 1/2 of 17 votes from a panel of AP member reporters who regularly cover the league.

Oklahoma senior defensive end Frank Alexander was the Big 12's top defender with 14 votes.
