The Wichita school district will get advice from area businesses under a new partnership being announced today.
The Business Education Innovation Partnership will pair area business leaders with district officials in hopes of finding ways to improve and cut the district’s costs in areas such as human resources, information technology, purchasing and maintenance.
Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Lynn Nichols and Superintendent John Allison are expected to announce the partnership during a Chamber luncheon today.
“The district has had to cut $50 million from our budget the past two years, and our intent is to not impact the classroom as much as possible,” Allison said in a written statement.
“Finding efficiencies from the expertise of the business community will allow us to target our resources in the classroom because our students and student achievement are our business.”Reach Suzanne Perez Tobias at 316-268-6567 or email@example.com.
