Chester McGlockton, who spent three seasons with the Chiefs, has died of an apparent heart attack. He was 42.
McGlockton, a four-time Pro Bowler with the Oakland Raiders during the 1990s, joined the Chiefs as a restricted free agent in 1998.
His best season was 1999 when he started all 16 games and helped the Chiefs to a 9-7 record.
McGlockton had been an assistant coach for the past two years at Stanford under head coach David Shaw, whose father, Willie was assistant head coach and secondary coach for the Chiefs in 2000.
Everyone in the Stanford Football family is deeply saddened by the passing of Chester McGlockton, Stanford head coach David Shaw said in a statement.
For the past two seasons, Chester has been a valuable member of our football staff and a wonderful friend to us all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Chesters wife Zina and their two children.
