Roasting one's Thanksgiving turkey is always a safe bet. But several other brave cooks out there have come up with alternative ways to prepare the Thanksgiving bird that could be worth a try, for variety's sake. This week, we'll share a few alternative turkey cooking recipes, starting with today's, which comes from the Food Network's Bobby Flay.
INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon canola oil, plus more for brushing on the turkey
1 small red onion, coarsely chopped
1 serrano chile, coarsely chopped
3 cups apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and coarsely chopped, plus 2 peeled, cored, and sliced into 1/2-inch thick slices
3 tablespoons chopped fresh sage leaves
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1 whole (20 lb.) turkey
