Roasting one's Thanksgiving turkey is always a safe bet. But several other brave cooks out there have come up with alternative ways to prepare the Thanksgiving bird that could be worth a try, for variety's sake. This week, we'll share a few alternative turkey cooking recipes, starting with today's, which comes from the Food Network's website.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup kosher salt
3 tablespoons onion powder
3 tablespoons black pepper
3 tablespoons white pepper
2 tablespoons sweet basil
2 teaspoons ground bay leaves
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons file powder
3 tablespoons garlic powder
1 1/2 tablespoons paprika
1 (10 to 12 lb) whole turkey
4 to 5 gallons peanut oil
