The Jayhawks have now had great chances to beat solid teams Iowa State and Baylor in back-to-back weeks.

"It was on our minds a little bit. We try not to worry about it, but it's difficult going through a coaching transition. We've created bonds with these coaches."

* Kansas was handed a gift by Baylor before the game even started. At the coin toss, Kansas deferred to the second half. But instead of receiving, the Baylor player said the Bears would kick. That meant that KU would get the ball to start each half.
"Well, it wasn't very good for us," Baylor coach Art Briles said. "It wasn't what we said we wanted to happen. I was a little surprised they didn't let us change it, because the two referees on our side asked me, 'What do you want to do, Coach?' I said we want the ball, but they wouldn't change it. That should never happen."
KU got a field goal on its first drive of the game but did not score to open the third quarter.
* Miller's 147 yards were the most for a KU freshman since 1993 when June Henley ran for 148 against Nebraska.
