It appears butterflies are flying out of a womans head on the cover of the 85th edition of the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. I look forward every year to discovering what the His & Hers fantasy gift is. Well, if youve ever stood at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and watched the dancing waters and thought, Gee, it would be swell to have that in our back yard, now you can have it. Perhaps not as big, but the gift being offered is a pair of dancing fountains from WET, the company behind many of the worlds famous fountains. And for a cool million bucks, Santa will deliver it.
Not into dampness? Then perhaps youd prefer a Dream Folly customized yurt where you can lounge and eat grapes, or whatever a person does in a yurt. By the way, a yurt is a tent, but you knew that already. This one, however, is $75,000. The car being offered this year is a Neiman Marcus exclusive edition of the 2012 Ferrari FF. Better hurry on this one. Theyre offering only 10 of them. Just think of the speeding tickets you could get in this 7-speed, 651-horsepower, V12 sweet ride that jumps from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. But heres the best part: You get a set of beautiful luggage that matches the interior. Guess how much it costs? Nope, higher. Higher. It is $395,000. Order today, but you wont get your new car until spring.
Most baby boomers love the Supremes. Not only did these women have a great sound, they knew that what they wore was as important as what they sang. They kept several designers busy, and thanks to the Wichita Art Museum youll be able to see 50 of those dresses. Mary Wilson, a founding member of the trio, owns the collection that will be exhibited starting Nov. 13. And good news for museum members: Mary will be in Wichita at the museum for A Supreme Holiday Dec. 16. This is a members only event. Ill share more on Mary Wilson and these fab gowns later.
Its from where?
Laugh at a friend and it will come back and bite you. When my friend Vicky was telling me how she loved the pashmina she bought in Italy, adding that it was her favorite one, I snickered and pointed out the Made in China label. This summer when I was in Siena, Italy, I bought a really cool, lightweight black coat. It was even on sale. When I took the tags off it the other day, I noticed the label was in English and the hang tag said the coat was crater dyed. In Hawaii. What? Crater dyed means it was dyed with volcanic ash. The tag says its washable, so I cant wait to see how that works out. At least it wasnt made in China. I was happy when I saw the sale price and didnt notice the label was Crazy Shirts. Their slogan is Be original. Be crazy. Now its Vickys turn to snicker.
Its not too late!
