  • Published Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at 12:09 a.m.

Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.

For a complete list of You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.

The record: A weekly list of open Sedgwick County meetings.

Why you'd want it: To learn more about meetings open to the public under the Kansas Open Meetings Act that you might be interested in attending. They include County Commission meetings, advisory board meetings and other gatherings involving public officials.

Where you get the records: The list is available on the county's website, www.sedgwickcounty.org.

How much it will cost: The information is free.
