Right on the heels of Halloween comes the annual Holiday Tables event at the Wichita Center for the Arts, a submersion in various themes and holidays via decorated tabletops as a fundraiser for the center.
The event runs from Thursday to Nov. 5 and will feature 38 tables decorated by businesses, organizations, individuals and, new this year, members of the media. The theme is “Seasons for Celebrating.”
Also part of the event are an auction of decorated Christmas trees, a holiday boutique featuring furniture and accessories from Traditions, a bake shop and lunch catered by Mediterranean Grill.
“Holiday Tables is one of the longest-running traditions in the Wichita community,” event chairwoman Linda Peressin said. “It goes back to November of 1967 when a group of Young Patrons for the Arts began decorating tables that demonstrated festive and creative ways for holiday season entertaining.” Designing Women, the center’s volunteer organization, took up the event in 1990.
Hours for Holiday Tables will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets cost $10, and lunch will be available each day from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for $12.
A preview party with a Tuscan theme will kick off the event from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. The party will feature a buffet dinner, drinks and live music. The cost is $75. To reserve a spot, call Randy Brown at 316-634-2787, Ext. 211. Tickets will also be available at the door.
The Wichita Center for the Arts is at 9112 E. Central.
