Haus of Brews: The third annual fundraiser put on by the Rotary Club of Andover will feature German food and beer. It'll be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Treescapes, 1202 N. Andover Road in Andover. Tickets are $25 at the door, and money raised will go toward polio eradication.
Free State Beer dinner: Newport Grill at 1990 N. Rock Road is putting on a dinner on Thursday that will include five courses featuring wild game paired with five beers from the Lawrence brew pub. The cost is $55 a person, and the dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are required by calling 316-636-9555.
Midwest Beerfest: The city's big beer bash starts Oct. 14 with several scheduled beer dinners and concludes with the main tasting event the afternoon of Oct. 15 at Century II. AVI Seabar & Chophouse
The official name for AVI, the restaurant Corporate Caterers' Ben Arnold is busily working on inside the newly remodeled Drury Plaza Broadview Hotel, 400 W. Douglas, will be AVI Seabar & Chophouse . Arnold has had to push the opening date back a month to Nov. 14 because of delays with some elevator construction.
Lunch at Lizzie's
Elizabeth Navrat has been catering in Wichita for 10 years, the last three out of the building at 3238 E. Douglas that previously housed Creative Catering.
A couple of months ago, she started serving lunch at her Lizzie's Delights Catering and Deli and plans to enhance her offerings in a few weeks by adding a hot lunch buffet. For now, Lizzie's Delights is open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays serving sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and daily specials.
Later this month, she plans to add Saturday hours and also will begin to offer a hot lunch buffet that will have different offerings each day — Southern fried chicken, Mediterranean food, Italian food, etc. For more information, call 316-250-8618.
