A request for brokers to make a pitch to market the Kansas Coliseum complex will go out next week.

Proposals will be due back to Sedgwick County by Nov. 15, and commissioners would choose a broker by Dec. 7 under the current timetable.

The county wants to keep the Kansas Pavilions open but find a new use for the rest of the 208-acre complex off I-135 at 85th Street North.

Britt Brown Arena, the heart of the complex, closed when Intrust Bank Arena opened in downtown Wichita early last year.

The complex includes the arena, which is not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act; the pavilions, which have three buildings, a covered practice arena and an RV park; Wiedemann Park for travel trailers and camping; and about 50 undeveloped acres.

The county says the successful broker will consider these options:

* selling all 208 acres

* leasing all 208 acres

* county operation of the pavilions

* operation of the pavilions by another group

* demolition of Britt Brown

* use of Britt Brown

* "any other options deemed reasonable and beneficial by firm with county approval."
