The traffic amnesty for warrants issued by the 18th District Court began at 7 a.m. today.

Some fees and the possibility of arrest will be waived if people voluntarily come in and pay their traffic fine today, Friday or Saturday, authorities have said. The program will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday on the fifth floor of the Sedgwick County courthouse.

If people have warrants for failing to appear in court or for a probation violation, a judge will be available to discuss their case. Those unable to pay the amount due in full must make a partial payment and agree to a payment plan.

The amnesty program is for traffic warrants issued in the 18th District only. People can go to www.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriff and click on the active warrant search link to see if they or others they know have warrants. They can also call 316-660-3960 to check for active warrants.
