K-State's Bryce Brown facing 'difficult times,' Snyder saysBY KELLIS ROBINETT

MANHATTAN Kansas State football coach Bill Snyder indicated Bryce Brown's early struggles may be more complex than they appear during his weekly news conference on Tuesday.
"Bryce is going through some difficult times right now," Snyder said. "We'll try to help him all we can."
Brown, a former top-ranked running back recruit out of Wichita East, has contributed little to the Wildcats this season. He has played in two games and has gained 16 rushing yards on three carries.
In his K-State debut against Eastern Kentucky, he lost a fumble. He then watched the Wildcats defeat Kent State from the sidelines with what Snyder described as a minor injury. Last week at Miami, Brown was on the field for parts of two series, but recorded no stats. He was yanked in the second half after missing a block in the backfield on a passing play.
Snyder described Brown's struggles as "unfortunate."
Brown began his college career at Tennessee, and rushed for 460 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman before transferring to K-State to play alongside his brother, Arthur.
Snyder was asked who might see action at running back against Baylor this Saturday and didn't mention Brown.
He said John Hubert, who is coming off a 166-yard effort against Miami, will start, and Angelo Pease, who has been banged up, will likely see time as a backup.
Nearing a sellout Fewer than 3,000 tickets remain for Saturday's 2:30 p.m. home game against No. 15 Baylor. Bowl and sideline level tickets are available for $55. Reserved view tickets are available for $35.
Still in top 10 K-State's defense is ranked sixth nationally after allowing 411 yards and 24 points to Miami. The Wildcats, who entered the weekend ranked first, are allowing an average of 164 yards and 10.3 points.
Simon back? Snyder said offensive lineman Shaun Simon, who opened the season as K-State's starting center, could be available to play in coming weeks. Simon suffered an injury midway through the Wildcats' first game against Eastern Kentucky and hasn't played since.
