Botanica Alfresco, 6:30 p.m. Fri. (Previously scheduled for July 29) Botanica, 701 Amidon: Food, cocktails and music are the centerpieces of this fundraiser, which benefits the gardens. Tickets are $100. Reservations due by Tuesday at 316-264-0448 or www.botanica.org.

Oktoberfest: Party on the Plaza, 4:30 to 11:30 p.m. Sat., Newman University. Fundraiser for Newman University featuring German cuisine, beer and live music. Tickets $100 at www.eventbrite.com.

Haus of Brews Oktoberfest, Oct. 8, Treescapes, 1202 N. Andover Road, Andover: Andover Rotary Club's third annual fundraiser, featuring 16 Oktoberfest-style Marzen beers for tasting and traditional German food samples. Tickets and times TBA.

Midwest Beerfest, Oct. 14-15: This annual event, put on by the Wichita chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food, offers beer dinners and an afternoon of beer sampling at Century II. Tickets are $35, available at www.wichitatix.com and 316-219-4TIX. Designated-drivers tickets are $12.

Wichita Wine Opener, Oct. 20: This national wine tasting series, which is put on in more than 30 cities, benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It'll feature wine, food from local restaurants and shopping. Tickets are $50, $65 for a VIP ticket. It's from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Abode Venue, 1330 E. Douglas. Brew Ha-Ha, 6:30 to 10 p.m. Nov. 4, Flint Hills National: The fifth annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters will feature beer samplings and food from local restaurants, including Abuelo's, Carrabba's and P.F. Chang's. Tickets are $100 at www.kansasbigs.org/bhh.
