Bill Martin,

Senior portfolio manager, investment management,

Intrust Bank

Martin has dual responsibilities in his new job: managing investment portfolios for certain private and institutional clients, as well as helping develop the bank's overall strategy for its wealth management division.

Martin, 40, grew up in Andover, graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe with a degree in business administration, then got his MBA from the University of Kansas. He also has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst professional designation.

Martin comes to Intrust from Arizona, where he worked for FolioDynamix, which provides banks and brokers with technology and other investment services. One of his clients was Intrust, which led to the job offer that brought him back to Kansas.

In addition to being near family, he said, "It just gave me a different opportunity to kind of put into practice things that I've been consulting with other firms on for the last few years."

He said helping others meet their financial goals "is the most rewarding part of the job."

Martin and his wife, Pam, have three children, ages 16, 13 and 12. In addition to "lots of family time," the couple have an ambitious goal: completing an Ironman triathlon — that's a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bicycle ride and 26.2-mile run — November in Arizona. Martin has done two previously; this would be Pam's first.

"We get up real early (to exercise) and try to squeeze in some on the weekends," Martin said.
