Exhibit Arts of Wichita was awarded a $14.2 million federal contract to supply the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program and the Yellow Ribbon program.

Under the two national programs, Exhibit Arts produces, takes orders for and delivers more than 150 promotional products such as T-shirts and name tags for the organizations' volunteers.

In addition, the company coordinates and supports the programs' trade shows and events; and develops and operates the employer awards programs.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a U.S. Department of Defense program to encourage employers to allow employees to volunteer for the National Guard and reserve.

Yellow Ribbon is a Defense program that supports the families of those volunteers.

Exhibit Arts, owned by Vernon and Beth Harshfield, had run the ESGR program for four years, and then won both programs from among a field of nine bidders.

"We weren't surprised to win it, but we were pleased," Beth Harshfield said. "We've worked very hard to build the program for ESGR."

The contract started Thursday and runs through 2014.

Exhibit Arts handles a number of other government contracts, Harshfield said, as well as marketing, fulfillment and event work for private companies.

The company has about 150 employees, with 18 in Wichita, she said. The company will hire four or five more people because of the new contract.
