WICHITA — A motorcycle accident early this morning left a man in critical condition and a woman in serious condition, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said.

The accident occurred shortly after midnight near 33rd Street South and Elizabeth.

Rusty Childers, 33, was operating the motorcycle and Amber Kinast, 25, was the passenger, Sheriff's Capt. George Mason said.

A sheriff's deputy spotted the motorcycle shortly before the accident and thought it had a tag violation, Mason said. Without using an emergency light, the deputy followed the motorcycle as it turned off Seneca and into a residential area and came upon the accident.

Childers and Kinast were taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.
