Wichita's River City Ribfest canceled

WICHITA — River City Ribfest, a new festival that was to be staged Aug. 25-27 outside Intrust Bank Arena, has been canceled.

The arena made the announcement today in a news release, which said the cancellation was "due to unforeseen conflicts."

The outdoor event was to feature barbecue, music and rib aficionados competing for cook-off titles such as "Best in Show" and "People's Choice." Six national rib vendors were to have been there, and local and regional bands were expected to perform.

It was announced in May that the event was to be sponsored by House of Schwan and Wichita Downtown Development Corp.
