WICHITA — Two suspects wanted in connection with the city's latest homicide were arrested Thursday in northwest Kansas, Wichita police said.

Shannondoa Hutchinson, 37, of Council Grove and Amy Newell, 33, who lives in the Emporia area, were arrested in the Norton County city of Edmond, which is about 70 miles northwest of Hays.

Police spokesman Doug Nolte said the red Mazda pickup they were driving was found in Edmond.

The two were wanted in the death of John Delgado, 24, who died at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis after being shot during a drug deal involving meth on Tuesday night.

A 34-year-old man who was also shot is expected to recover from his wounds. A woman in the car with the two shooting victims was not injured in the incident.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of Villa West apartments, 1501 N. West.

Shortly after the shooting, Wichita police asked authorities in Kansas to be on the lookout for the two and their pickup.

All five people involved in the incident know each other, police Lt. Ken Landwehr said, and all five have served time in prison.

Delgado's death is the 14th homicide of the year in Wichita.
