Music Theatre of Wichita's 10th annual Jester Awards honored south-central Kansas high school students for excellence in musical theater performances. The awards were given during a ceremony Friday evening at Century II's Mary Jane Teall Theater.
This past school year, judges viewed 31 productions at 28 high schools, the highest number of entries in the history of the Jesters. For the third year in a row, an actor and actress were selected to represent Wichita at the National High School Musical Theater Awards, to be held in New York City on June 27. For the first time, cash awards of $1,000 were also awarded to these two honorees, Keaton Jadwin and Kassiani Menas, both Wichita East High School students recognized for their performances in "Into the Woods."
Previous honorees, Claire Gerig and Jenny Wine, co-hosted the event with Music Theatre Producing Artistic Director Wayne Bryan, and the following Jester Awards were given:
