Eagle staff

A blocked field goal attempt helped preserve the Wichita Wild's second victory and made quarterback Phil Staback a winner in his indoor football debut.

Xavier Jordan's block with 2 seconds remaining gave the Wild a 20-18 win over host Bloomington on Friday night.

Staback, who was signed earlier this week, was sharp in his first game, completing 25 of 33 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Staback, who played at Lindenwood, found Darius Fudge for a first-half touchdown.

Bloomington (7-2) led 12-10 at halftime after the Extreme ran back a blocked field goal attempt for a touchdown as the second quarter ended.

Staback's second TD — a seven-yard pass to Clinton Solomon a 17-12 lead in the third. A 26-yard Dylan Pohlman field goal early in the fourth quarter gave the Wild the lead for good.
