A 25-year-old man was arrested Saturday after triggering an alarm while carrying a case of Bud Light out of a closed Walgreens store.
The incident happened at 11:05 Saturday night, shortly after the store at 2220 N. Maize Road had closed.
The man told police he hid in the store until it closed and the employees had left. He then took the beer and, as he was leaving, the alarm at the business sounded.
A Wichita police supervisor was in the area when the alarm sounded and responded.
"The man made comments to the officers that the reason he had done this is that there was no employees at the business to sell him the beer," said Sgt. Steve Yarberry, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.
