WICHITA — If you commit a crime, it's probably not smart to brag about it with the windows open.

That is what happened on Thursday night in west Wichita, police say.

Two teenage boys, ages 17 and 18, told officers they were robbed by two other teens, also 17 and 18.

They said that they were approached in the 3500 block of West 13th Street at about 9:15 p.m. by the suspects who displayed weapons and demanded their cash, wallets, cell phones and shoes, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

The victims recognized the suspects and told police they lived in an apartment complex about a block away. Officers went to the complex at 3695 W. 13th. As they were walking on public property, they overheard teens talking through an open window about a robbery they had recently committed, Nolte said.

The officers stopped to listen to what was being said, and then as one of the officers approached the apartment door to knock, it opened and one of the suspects emerged.

He was arrested on the spot, Nolte said, and the second suspect was arrested moments later in the apartment.
